Ointment and Perfume Rejoice the Heart

In Proverbs 27:9, it says, “Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.”   This week I have enjoyed phone conversations with two friends from afar.  Their calls were totally unexpected and welcomed.   We laughed and talked back and forth and enjoyed getting caught up.  I love to hear their voices.  I can picture their faces clearly when I hear their voices.  These friends are good conversationalists…there is never an awkward pause, and each allows the other to share.  No one holds the conversational floor completely.  Isn’t that what a good friendship is all about…sharing back and forth and being respectful of each other?  I appreciate each friend greatly and will continue to stay connected with them. Their calls made my week.  This is not a news flash, but my reality.
