Lest We Forget…
Today is Remembrance Day in Canada. We remember the fallen soldiers…the ones who came home wounded and scarred for life…the ones who lost so much so that we could continue on in the freedoms we enjoy. We have so much today and they gave up so much.
The horrors of war are far from our minds but today we remember…may we never forget.
My Aunt Louise served as a nurse on the hospital trains bringing the wounded men and boys home. Uncle Don lost his life somewhere over Germany … an Uncle I never knew. Uncle Sid and Uncle Jim and Uncle Bruce all served in the Canadian Forces. Grandpa Spence served in the US army. I have a fine heritage of servants.
My own father would have gone but someone had to run the farm and feed people. I remember them all today. I am thankful for their sacrifices on my behalf.
